Memorial to Hugh McKay Munro and his wife Sarah Relph
The Kirkmichael Trust is working away; since restoring the buildings and mausolea at Kirkmichael we have moved on to get the rest of the kirkyard into shape. We've spent every Saturday morning in the autumn and right through the winter repairing broken stones, returfing, levelling, straightening the smaller stones, levelling tablestones, making the building bird and bat-proof and a 100 other jobs to undo a century of neglect!
One thing we can't do is professionally re-erect headstones - they have to be done absolutely right to ensure they're safe and stable. A particularly important one is the collapsed memorial to Hugh McKay Munro and his wife Sarah Relph, who were for a time the Governor and Matron of the Black Isle Combination Poorhouse. They had a pretty adventurous life of it before then, and we have a new Story Behind the Stone dedicated to them and a special Facebook post

We are appealing to Munros for contributions via the website donation box to help get it professionally re-erected (£600). Do you think you could copy this appeal to the Clan Munro websites? I'm hoping there might be some who would be keen to support putting this headstone to a very deserving couple back on its feet again??
