I am looking for information on Elizabeth Dunlop Munro Fraser, born in Troqueer Kirkcudbright Scotland March 23, 1823. My research comes mostly from familysearch.org. That site has her parents listed as G. Munro and Joan Ochertson. Elizabeth married Henry George Fraser in KELTON, KIRKCUDBRIGHT, SCOTLAND 12/11/1846 and they had 7 children, one of which is my Great Grandmother, Annie Cowan Fraser (O'Shaughnessy), born in Kirkinner, Wigtownshire, Scotland 10/5/1863. I can't find any further information on Elizabeth Munro's parent's G. Munro or Joan Ochertson (except that Joan Ochertson had a child in 1817 with William Kennedy, a girl named Margaret, christened 7/6/1817). I can't find anything at all about the last name Ochertson, google doesn't even like it! Any help/information would be greatly appreciated! I am having a fantastic time learning about my Scottish heritage!

Monika Bowler, Cerdigion, eabowler@waitrose.com

My husband's great-grandparents were both MUNROs. Amelia Jean Munro (born 7.2.1837 in London), daughter of David Munro (born ca. 1790 in Scotland) married Hector Lewis Munro 3.9.1859 (he was born 3.9.1836 in London), son of Alexander Munro (born ca. 1795 in Scotland). Amelia Jean and her brother attended the Royal Caledonian Asylum School in London, where children of soldiers who participated in the Napoleonic Wars (up to 1815 - Battle of Waterloo)were educated.

I have so far been unable to trace both David's and Alexander's birth place and parentage. Apparently, they were brothers.
